Pete's Irony

Pete Adams worked at a big business in New York. His job started at 8:30 am and he was going to be late. Pete had never been late before which made him worry.

“I really hope I don’t get fired.” Pete said. He franticly looked at his watch, the time was 8:16.

“I’m never going to make it on time.” Pete thought.

When Pete finally got to work it was 8:45. His boss was surely going to be ferocious with him

“Pete, why are you so late? I can’t run this business with out you.” His boss said.

“Sorry sir, I woke up late.”

“Well don’t let it happen again.”

Pete felt so embarrassed when he was walking down the hallway. Everyone was watching him when his boss was yelling at him. He entered his office, sat down and took a sip of his coffee. When he turned on his computer and went on his business file. He looked for the project he had been working on for a meeting with his company, but he couldn’t find it. He looked franticly on all his files but it was gone. His hart dropped.

“I will never get this project done in time.” Pete said.

It was 9:00 and his meeting started in Two hours. Pete didn’t even bother to try to redo his project because he knew it wouldn’t get done. He just sat in his chair and thought what his boss would say when he got to the meeting and it wouldn’t be done.

When he got to the meeting everyone was waiting for him to put his project up on the board. He whispered to his boss to tell him that he did not have his project done.

“Pete I hate to do this but, you’re fired.” His boss said. Pete couldn’t believe what he had just heard. He sulked out of the room thinking how he is going to get a different job. When got to his car he hoped in and turned on the radio and started to drive. He was the saddest he had ever been in his life, he did not know what he was going to do. Suddenly, a large truck swerved out of control and smashed into Pete’s car knocking him into to the side of the road. Pete died five minutes later.
