Proficiency #1
Experiment and Explain with how Newton's Laws of motion apply to the physical world.
Problem: Will the surface affect the speed of the car.
Hypothesis: I think that the car will go faster with the sawdust rather than the baby powder.
Experiment: CV: the car
IV:
MV:track surface, speed
Materials: a toy car, race track, sawdust, baby powder, tape, stop watch.
Procedure: gather all materials, tape race track to wall put baby powder or sawdust on the track, time the car from the start and stop the time at the bottom, then switch the surface to baby powder or sawdust and repeat.

Observation: I am noticing that the track with the sawdust on it is making the car go faster than the track with the baby powder on it
Conclusion:My hypothesis was incorrect . The sawdust was not the best. It was nothing. If anything I think the sawdust slowed it down. hy
Proficiency #2
Experiment and Explain with how friction and gravity apply to the Newton's laws of motion.
Problem: Will the weight of the car affect the force it has upon a block of wood.
Hypothesis: I think that the one that weighs the most will have the most affect on the piece of wood.
Experiment: CV:
MV: weight of the cars, wood block,
IV:
Materials: Wood block,3 toy cars all different weights, face track, ruler, tape
Procedure: Gather all materials, tape race track to wall, place block at the end of track, place toy car at the end top of track, let the car go down the track and hit the block of wood, measure the length the block got pushed, then repeat with a different car.
Proficiency #3
Experiment and explain with the relationships between speed and acceleration.
Proficiency #4
Experiment and explain with how simple machines utilize mechanical advantage to transfer energy.

In this rube goldberg, he is using 3 different machines, the wheel and axle, lever and inclined plane. First he used the wheel and axle to crank the ball up to the top, then he used the inclined plane to get the ball moving. and lastly he used the lever to lower the ball onto the ground.
Proficiency #5
Effectively explain how alternate forms of energy can be utilized to influence the United States energy needs.
